Search Engine Marketing and Optimization Services Canada and USA
What is the difference between SEO and SEM? Why is it for Canada is so different than for the United States or Europe? Why is SEO to Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Montreal and Edmonton so different than let's say New York or Los Angeles? Why is it harder for web hosting and web site design than let's say "blue toothpicks in timbuktoo"? What is geotargeting? Online offline SEO, link popularity campaigns and Google page rank? Unfortunately this website would need to be 1 000 000 pages to explain SEO and SEM in detail ...however below are some guidelines and tips on how to hire a marketing professional to take care of your campaign.
Why SEO in Canada is Easier than in the USA?
SEO for Canada is geotargeted. This means that you target your efforts for a Canadian audience. Less competition and easier to make it on top of search engines rankings (SERPS) but less traffic. However, the conversion ratio would be higher because off less competition from other websites. If you product or services is local or regional this is usually the best way to go. For Canada search engine optimization, sometimes content is enough with limited Google page rank and back links but it really depends on the industry.
What is the difference between SEO and SEM:
SEO means search engine optimization and SEM means search engine marketing. They are done on the website itself, this is often call on site optimization and can be controlled by the webmaster/web site designer from the site itself. This can be done with ALT (alternate tags so that people with disability and slower browsers can "read" the images) tags, title tags, description, content and various HTML tags that need to be manually optimized. Meta keyword tags are no longer taken into consideration with major search engines, the only meta tag that still matters is the description tag as it can increase your CTR (click through ratio) but that is only AFTER you get web traffic so it really isn't part of the onsite process. The best way to do search engine optimization these days is with massive quality content with tons of long tail keywords. Over 2000 words for the index file and 250-500 words for sub pages will give enough meat for Google, MSN and Yahoo to crawl your site and hopeful get you high rankings, but this again really depends on the nature of your industry and the competitiveness...
Search Engine Marketing
This is a lot harder to do than search engine optimization since you have no control on how other websites and industry authority sources will evaluate your web site. SEM is even more difficult to execute than SEO and is very time consuming and expensive. This is only recommended for larger companies with large budgets. For a small business, doing SEM on their own is the best and most economical choice since rates both in Canada and the USA are usually prohibitive. Search engine marketing consists of getting inbound links to your site, press releases, offline media adverting, networking and much, much more.
