How to fix media button upload image problem in Word Press

Is your media button on wordpress not working anymore?

This seems to be a problem with the new version of WordPress 3.5, let’s hope they will fix it in the future. But anyways, here is the solution:

Using an FTP program or file manager, open this file wp-config.php, this is in the root folder of your worpress installation, the public.htm folder depending on you hosting set up.

Open the file with dreamweaver or your favorite code editor, preferably something that tells you the lines of code, otherwise you will need to use find and replace.

  1. Find this line of code (180)

require_once(ABSPATH . ‘wp-settings.php’);

2. Right on top of it, (line 179), add this:

define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false );

Save the file and re-upload and that’s it, problem solved!

How to install WordPress on Xampp, Wamp, Uniserver or Localhost

How to install WordPress on Xampp, Wamp, Uniserver or Localhost

Fortunately wordpress is a well know and used CMS, because of it’s popularity it’s constantly updated and things run very smoothly making the installation on a local machine a breeze. This is not always the case for other content management systems out there that are riddled with problems and installation errors.

Download Xampp, Wampp, Uniform server or any local host of your choice

Download any of the free Local host servers from over here, but make sure you pick the right version, some are for 32bit and some for 64bit windows version. In some cases with very old scripts like OS Date or Sikula for example, they won’t work because a local host with an older PHP version is required. Choose the .exe file as it is self installing.

http://www.wampserver.com/

http://www.uniformserver.com/

http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

Run the .exe and choose a location on your hard disk, this doesn’t really matter but it’s better to put it in it’s own folder. I’m not sure about other localhosts, but uniserver is also portable, so you can copy the whole folder and all projects and websites to another machine.

Where to paste WordPress?

Take your whole WordPress folder and paste it into htdocs in Xampp and Wampp and in the www folder in uniserver.

Create a database in PHP my admin (on all wampp solutions this will be a link from the page localhost), you will need this for the wordpress installation procedure. Make sure to also create a user and allocate the user to the new database.

Run the installation wizard.

Conclusively this is a very basic and short tutorial on how to install wordpress on a local machine. If this article attracts any traffic at all and there is a need for better instructions I will be sure to post them over here. In the meantime please leave you feedback.

Pattaya Web Designers

Pattaya Web Designers

Are you an expat that recently moved to Pattaya Thailand? You are starting  a new business and maybe you are looking for a web designer?

The best thing to do is look for someone local than can speak perfect English, preferably an expat the used to work or works in the IT field. A lot or restaurants, bars and hotels have websites, a good way to look for a web developer is to ask the companies with the best websites who built it for them.

If the site is good and the source is a recommendation you have a good chance of finding someone qualified.

How much does a website cost in Pattaya, Bangkok and Thailand in general?

The cost of the website will greatly depend on what you need done. Prices can range from 10 000 baht to  a quarter million…but on average expect to pay about 20 000 to 30 000 baht for something decent. There is a wide variety of choice for a website ranging from plain HTML to CMS (content management system) like Joomla, Word Press or Drupal. Custom CMS design is not recommended because the price is usually prohibitively high and there is very little support available.

Web Design Services In Pattaya & Bangkok

How to find a web designer in Pattaya, Bangkok or anywhere in Thailand?

So you just moved to Thailand and decided to start a new business, maybe a small hotel, a bar or a restaurant? You business cards are done, fliers, brochures, staff is hired and the business is up and running but there is something missing…you need a new website, and you need to find a designer in Bangkok, Pataya or any other city in Thailand.

One of the problems you will face with finding web developers in Thailand is the lack of English communication skills by the locals. This can often be problematic…tasks as simple as asking directions can sometimes be a problem for a foreigner in Thailand…imagine finding a competent web designer!

The best thing to do in these cases is to find a professional and competent expat that lives in Thailand in cities like Bangkok or Pattaya.  The advice for finding someone good is the same as in your home county, look at his portfolio,  credentials,  the way he answers emails and how fast it takes him to get back to you.  The web design rates might cost a little more, but the final result will be much better in most circumstances.

Now the question is what kind of website are you planning on building? A plain HTML site or a CMS? If using a content management system, what platform are you looking at, word press, Joomla, drupal? These are the three most common ones in use today. Although in Thailand designer’s English is limited, all CMS versions have a Thai back end interface. The only problem with that is that you will not be able to manage your own website, this is why it’s important to hire and English speaking professional. If the site is HTML the language will be less of an issue.
